The matter and energy existed before the Big Bang in the form of a singularity and when that singularity was exploded as a result of the Big bang, the count down (time) of the Universe started.
The Origin of Universe as mentioned in the Qur'an:
بِّسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

أَوَلَمْ يَرَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا أَنَّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ كَانَتَا رَتْقًا فَفَتَقْنَاهُمَا ۖ وَجَعَلْنَا مِنَ الْمَاءِ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ حَيٍّ ۖ أَفَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
"Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were joined together as one united piece (singularity), then We parted them (Big Bang)? And We have made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe"? -- Surat Al-'Anbyā' 21:30
"Indeed, your Lord is Allah , who created the heavens and earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne. He covers the night with the day, [another night] chasing it rapidly; and [He created] the sun, the moon, and the stars, subjected by His command. Unquestionably, His is the creation and the command; blessed is Allah , Lord of the worlds." (Qur'an, 7:54)
“Declare, ‘Do you disbelieve in the One Who created the Earth in two stages? Do you make others equal to Him? He is the Lord of all the worlds’.” (Qur’an, 41:9)
"Say (O Muhammad, unto the idolaters): Disbelieve ye verily in Him Who created the earth in two Days, and ascribe ye unto Him rivals ? He (and none else) is the Lord of the Worlds". Qur'an, Sura'h al-Fussilat (41:9)
"He placed therein firm hills rising above it, and blessed it and measured therein its sustenance in four Days, alike for (all) who ask". Qur'an, Sura'h al-Fussilat (41:10)
"Then turned He to the heaven when it was smoke, and said unto it and unto the earth: Come both of you, willingly or loth. They said: We come, obedient". Qur'an, Sura'h al-Fussilat (41:11)
"Then He ordained them seven heavens in two Days and inspired in each heaven its mandate; and We decked the nether heaven with lamps, and rendered it inviolable. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Knower". Qur'an, Sura'h al-Fussilat (41:12)
