Isra and Mi'raj in Quran

Isra and Mi'raj, also known as Al Isra' wal Miraj, is observed on the 27th day of the month of Rajab, the seventh month in the Islamic calendar. This event marks the night that Allah took Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) on a journey from Mecca to Jerusalem, where he leads other Prophets in prayer and then he ascended to heaven along with Angel Gabriel on a creature called Al-Buraq (a white animal, smaller than a mule and bigger than a donkey), where he spoke to Allah (swt), who gave him the gift of five times daily prayers for the believers. Allah (swt) says in the Holy Quran:

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

"Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al- Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing". Surat Al-'Isrā' (17:1)

"And he certainly saw him in another descent,

At the Lote-tree of the Utmost Boundary –

Near it is the Garden of Refuge –

When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]
The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit].

He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord".

—Quran, Chapter 53 (An-Najm), verses 13–18
